DRUMS

Percussion is no new invention either. The drum is probably the first instrument ever created by man. In early blues music there is little that resembles a drum kit as we know them today but many songs used percussive rhythms, foot tapping, hand clapping and often the striking of the body of the guitar to create rhythmic percussive sounds. The modern drum kit is a refined package of percussive instruments and its introduction helped to allow other instrumentalists to explore more expressive methods of playing and also to develop a more complex rhythm to songs where all instruments could hold a counter beat but combine with awesome effect.
